Earth Fare!

Earlier this week me and my boyfriend went on a day trip out of town to do some Christmas shopping. After we finished shopping we embarked on my first trip to Earth Fare!

i have to say, i LOVE this place!! i was like a kid in a toy store! i had never been in a speacialty store like this one where as far as the eye could see was nothing but healthy, organic products!  the reason i love this store so much is that as you know i'm trying to incorporate more natural, organic and healthy products into my life , not only personal care products , but food as well. shopping at this store you dont have to constantly look at labels or  wonder if its good for you, because everything thing in this store is healthy , they dont even sell or serve any pepis or dr.pepper etc. because it has high fructose corn syrup in it. so bottom line if ya wanna start eatting more organic foods and have one of these stores or a whole foods near by i highly recommend checking it out . Now with that said, if your like me and the closest Earth Fare/ Whole Foods is an hour and a half drive away i suggest walmart, i was actually able to find some organic products when i went there the other day, like cereal, milk, granola bars, chips and crackers. they dont have the wide variety of  brands and products that Earth Fare has but it is a nice alternative if you dont have one in your area. so let me show you what i bought....

This is Beauty without Cruelty shampoo in rosemary mint tea tree and Beauty without Cruelty conditioner -moisture plus.

This is Dr.Bronner's Magic Soap bar in Rose

Dr. Bronner's Magic soap 18-in-1 hemp castile  soap in lavender

Giovanni L.A. Natural styling gel

Every Man Jack Shave Kit
comes with : Shave cream ,face lotion, face scrub and a lib balm
*got this for my boyfriend for Xmas! makes for an excellent gift!

so far I'm really enjoying all these products, buying trail size products and kits are a great way to test out the product to see if you like it without commenting to a full size something you've never tried and without spending a lot if money

Campaign for Safe Cosmetics : The Story of Cosmetics

Campaign for Safe Cosmetics : The Story of Cosmetics

where to buy organic or natural products?

ok if you want to try some natural products here's a list of some pretty common places you can find them
  1. walmart: walmart has everything lol even a few natural choice products such as Burt's bees and Yes to Carrots
  2. Target: target has more natural selection then wal-mart, if your looking for more variety in brands and products and don't have a Whole Foods nearby like me target is the  place to go.
  3. Whole Foods or Earth Fare : Health food specialty stores are the best!
  4. Vita cost: i love vitacost! go to www.vitacost.com they have name brand  products that  are much cheaper then buying them in the store! if your like me and want to switch to natural products but don't want to pay a bundle ( i find natural/organic products are a tad bit more expensive , but that's only because they dont use cheap, harmful chemicals.) then checkout vita cost.

The Begreening

This is the story of how i became Green, or "becoming" green , as with most things, this is a work in progress. so let's start from the beginning or the "begreening". one day while perusing through skin care/ beauty isles at target i came across this cute little travel kit from "Love and Toast" i had never heard of them before, but i love trying different things so i decided to get it. when i flipped it over to read the back i saw this
NO parabens, phthalates, petrolatum, mineral oil, propylene glycol, retinol, or synthetic color.
parabens? what the heck are parabens? phthalates? i could barley say it much less know what it was.  i wondered what was so bad about these ingredients that they would advertise not having them in their products. so i bought the kit, went home and did some research. it was like opening Pandora's box, i could not believe what i was reading. parabens are linked to cancer? phthalates disrupt the endocrine system? Then i read about sodium lauryl sulfate or SLS that is a detergent used as a degreaser , its also found in the stuff you use to clean your floors and cars? what? thats in my shampoo??  i was completely shocked , i couldn't believe that people/companies would knowingly put these toxins in products that we use every day, from makeup to body wash. i immediately began looking through my bathroom reading the ingredients on every bottle, they all contained SLS and/or parabens, they were everywhere!  ahh i can't believe i've been putting this stuff on my body for years, not even knowing what was really in it or what it could cause. since then i have thrown out my old stuff that was full of toxins and replaced them with products that are 100% natural and i gotta say my skin and hair have never looked and felt so good!
so thus begins my journey into the green and to embrace more organic, natural and good for the earth products. so now is prolly a good time to mention that theses blogs are my own opinion from the information i've read and researched. no ones paying me to write this and i certainly don't want to scare anybody , just make you more informed. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!! ( yeah i totally got that from School House Rock lol ) please research this information and decide for your self what you think about it. o and here's a link to Skin deepwww.ewg.org/skindeep  , its a great website that you can search any personal care products and it'll rate it based on the ingredients if its safe or not.
